HOEY, Patrick
October 27, 1956 - April 5, 2015 - Hydro Ottawa (Director of Regulatory Affairs)

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the sudden passing of Patrick James Hoey, fiercely devoted family man, avid golfer, and lover of fine wines.

Patrick leaves behind his loving wife, Suzanne (nee Bélanger), and their sons Andrew, Brent, and Eric, each of whom made him so proud. He is survived by his sisters Mary Anne (Greg) and Jane (late Pat), father-in-law, Jean Bélanger, and brothers-in-law Michel (Danielle), Pierre (late Jacinta), Robert (Cathy), Marc (Trish) as well as many nieces and nephews. Patrick will also be fondly remembered by many friends and colleagues.

He is predeceased by his father, Bernard and his mother, Geraldine, who was definitely the better golfer. They taught him how to be fiercely proud of his children.

Patrick's absence is already deeply felt, as he was truly one of a kind. His sarcastic wit was rivalled only by his deep compassion and care for others. Although he would be the first to make a clever joke at your expense, he would also be the first to offer a helping hand in a time of need. Patrick taught us all a great deal about the importance of family and the value of hard work. He is loved and missed.

Friends are invited to join the family at the Taylor Funeral Home (524 Davis Drive, Newmarket, 905-898-2100) from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Wednesday, April 8th. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, April 9th at 11 am at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church (17955 Leslie St. Newmarket).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ABLE Network or the Special Olympics - Newmarket. As a tribute, we suggest opening that nice bottle of wine you've been saving and enjoying a glass with loved ones, since every day we have with those we love is an occasion to be celebrated.
